The US rout from Afghanistan
Background
The United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001 after the attacks on 9/11 to Pentagon and the World Trade Center in New York City. The United States armed forces waged war against the Taleban and Al Qaeda succesfully, and after 20 years, Afghanistan had some semblance of central government in Kabul.
The air base in Kabul provided logistical and tactical support for the US and Afghani forces against potential terrorist threats. As long as the US was in control of it, drones, tanks and the air force could obliterate any opposing threat from the Taleban.
It also was in a central location globally, it provided air dominance and control towards Iran, Pakistan, China and Russia, and was a key refueling stop between Asia and the Middle East.
No force on the planet could overthrow the United States from the Kabul air base, nothing except the President of the United States.
The folly of Joe Biden
Joe Biden ordered a rout of the US forces from Afghanistan in September 2021. There was very little planning, there was recommendations from senior military staff against it, and the execution was abominable. Civilians were not evacuated first, but were left as hostages, along with many US collaborators from the Afghani people.
The message to the world is clear: be a friend of the US, and they will abandon you and leave you to be murdered.
On top of that, the US Armed forces left bullets, rifles, tanks, drones, helicopters, aircraft and other military assets behind, worth billions of dollars. The Taleban can sell those to bad actors, including China, Russia and Iran, which can then reverse engineer US military technology.
If anyone else on the planet would finance terrorism with billions of dollars, and hand over US military technology to bad actors, they would face serious consequences. But, somehow, then the POTUS does it, it becomes kosher.
De jure and constitutionally, the US Congress is the last word on US interests, since it has the power to impeach the sitting president for treason. Treason is, of course, acting against the interests of the nation. Therefore, US Congress could have impeached Joe Biden for his decision to flee from Afghanistan.
Politically, when Congress does nothing, it immplicitly accepts the president's actions. And if the american people keep voting the same people to Congress, the american people implicitly accept that financing the Taleban with billions of dollars is okay.
The US rout from Afghanistan was the worst US foreign policy decision in 50 years, topping the US Congress decision to end military aid to the South Vietnamese government, which directly lead to the downfall of free Vietnam and the enslavement of the vietnamese people under Communism.
Donald Trump made an even worse blunder, destroying Nuclear Deterrence.
